Frequently Asked Questions

How do you pronounce DIWY? What does it mean?

DIWY is pronounced "dee-wee", like “kiwi.” It stands for "Do-it-with-you", because financial planning is often more effective as a collaborative experience, rather than trying to Do-it-yourself (DIY) or fully delegate.

Do I have to move my money or open new accounts?

No. DIWY Financial Planning is an advice-only firm. You keep control of your money; we offer objective guidance.

Do you sell products or earn commissions?

No. We are fee-only fiduciaries — no sales, no hidden agendas.

What do you charge?

One-on-one financial planning is available at a flat rate of $400 per hour. You only pay for time spent in meetings, not for planning or administrative work done outside of those sessions.

If you schedule multiple meetings within a 30-day period, additional sessions qualify for discounted rates.

Group planning is available for $100 per month and includes live, facilitated sessions with opportunities to ask questions and learn alongside others. For $50 per month, self-directed access provides personalized financial planning tools to help you stay organized, track your goals, and explore what-if scenarios on your own.

All services operate in flexible, 30-day periods. There are no setup fees, retainers, or long-term commitments. You can start or stop at any time.

Who do you work with?

People from all walks of life who want a collaborative partner.

What if I just have a few quick questions?

You can attend an office hours Q&A, book one-time sessions, or schedule multiple meetings. It’s your choice.

Do you meet virtually?

Yes! All meetings are conducted virtually by phone or Zoom. Scheduling is flexible, including evenings and weekends.

Do you meet in person?

Yes, in-person meetings are available upon request. However, most meetings are held virtually to make the process more convenient and cost-effective for everyone. Virtual meetings reduce travel time and allow for greater flexibility across time zones.

In-person meetings may involve additional time for travel and preparation. A higher hourly rate and travel-related fees may apply depending on the location and nature of the meeting.
